Manav, Ishan, Raghu and now Detective Bakhshi ...the look is so different ...
Upcoming stars have always been pitted against the superstars, reasons may differ but there are some similarities that one can't ignore. Sushant Singh Rajput who rose to fame with his Balaji Telefilms' show Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV reminds us of the young Shahrukh Khan who gained his foothold in the industry with his TV show Fauji.
Shahrukh though has pursued a Masters in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia; Delhi later opted out to pursue his career in Hindi cinema. The Kai Po Che! actor too opted out from Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) to pursue his dream of becoming a Bollywood star. Both these actors began their career in Bollywood with unconventional roles. While King Khan did negative roles in films like Darr and Baazigar, Sushant also started his filmi career with a multi starrer film Kai Po Che! which many had advised him against doing. His role in Detective Byomkesh Bakshi is also touted to be different and eccentric. His choice of roles just like the My Name is Khan actor seems to be breaking the mould of a proto type hero.
That's not all, both these stars descend from Delhi. They were active sport players in school and college and have been the students of acting guru Barry John. While the dimpled actor played a detective in the 1999 hit Baadshah, Sushant too is ought to play a detective in Dibakar Banerjee's next Detective Byomkesh Bakshi. These two actors who play larger than life characters on reel are known to be shy and introverts in their real life.
With so many intentional and unintentional similarities in their on and off screen avatars, is the Shuddh Desi Romance actor trying to follow the footsteps of the superstar of this decade? Well we are not sure if similar backgrounds qualify Sushant to be touted as the next Shahrukh Khan, but with these similarities, one really can't ignore the actor.
