Petals
"He loves me..." A Rose petal floated gently to the ground. "He loves me not." Another joined the same fate as the first. "He loves me..." whispered the lovely young Girl plucking off another petal and tossing it into the wind. "He loves me not," she continued mournfully. "He lov-"
"You know that doesn't really work, right?" Ranveer stole what was left of the flower from Panchi's fingers and plopped down onto the bench next to her where she had been taking her break on top of the terrace of Imperial Collage.
"Nonu! Give that back!" Panchi shoved at the laughing man next to her and tried to reach for the flower as he held it as far from her as possible. "Come on, you jerk, give it back!" Ranveer only moved the rose further from her grasp.
"You know you don't need a flower to tell you how I feel about you." Ranveer teased shifting suddenly so that Panchi fell onto his lap.
Blushing furiously she once more tried to make a grab for the flower but was startled as Ranveer suddenly wrapped his arms around her bringing the Rose in front of them both. "All you have to do is ask me," he whispered into her ears.
"I...I...uh..." Flushed Panchi just stared at the flower being held in front of her.
"So where were you?" He took her hands and gently wrapped them around the stem. "Ah, yes...He loves you..." Ranveer nuzzled the back of her neck as he pulled a petal loose and let it drift to the ground. "He loves you not." Feeling Panchi stiffening in his arms he tightened his hold on her and pulled another petal loose. "He loves you..." Panchi relaxed letting out the breath she'd been holding, and continued to watch with rapt attention as Ranveer pulled petal after petal repeating the rhyme.
"...He loves you not." Ranveer finished calmly pulling the last petal loose. Panchi felt herself freezing and stared with a detached feeling as the Red petal fluttered to the ground. The petal less stem dropped from her suddenly numb fingers.
"He loves you." Panchi blinked in surprise as a beautiful rose was slipped into her hands. "I love you," the handsome man holding her whispered. Pulling her closer he leaned down and brushed a kiss across her bare shoulder. Panchi's fingers tightened around the rose as she melted into his arms her eyes fluttering shut. Nuzzling her neck once more Ranveer buried his face into her hair. "And don't let anyone or anything let you think otherwise."
A soft smile spread across Panchi's face as she savored the feeling of being in his arms. "I love you, too." Her only response was a feather brush of a kiss to her neck and that was all she needed.
