@Jia: "Non-Indian Shows: Person of Interest, Bing Bang Theory, Scandal, Parenthood.I started watching Non-Indian shows first with sitcoms- like Friends, Seinfeld, Everybody loves Raymond, then 24."Yeah I started watching with some of these as well, thanks to their endless reruns! Seinfeld, Raymond, Cosby show, the Nanny, Golden girls. And more recently, Gilmore girls. If nothing else, they're quite entertaining! I even watched that's so Raven just because Raven's so talented. I actually Iiked it!
Jia, I also like some of James Bond series. Favorite James Bonds are Sean Connery and now I like Daniel Craig.hmm., Daniel Craig I some how didn't like him as he didn't present me that 'handsome hunk' image that I got used to after watching Pierce Brosnan , Sean Connery. But Daniel Craig James bond movies are good be it Casino Royale or Quantum of Solace. Daniel Craig is more rugged.I was planning to watch Amazing Spider man because of its special effects, but I think it is out of theaters now. So have to wait until it comes on TV or on netflix.yeah..try it , though this one did not become big hit like the others in the franchise.I am not much into Godzilla type movies. ok.😊 ..like I said any movie is good for me unless it is horror, I dread the horror kindI like Superman, batman type movies - super heroes based on comics I used to read as a kid.Angie, I loved reading comics when I was kid but watched only Batman, Spiderman, Ironman till now. Didn't watch any Super man series till now, I heard Christopher Reeves is very good in them. My all fav. comic hero is Spiderman though...😊.
@ Jia. Since you like Manoj Bajpai and Nawazuddin, have you seen Guns of Wasseypur? It is a bit violent but I found it very funny too...kind of in a dark way. It had me cackling. Although Masoom was very good but I prefer the book Man Woman and Child to the movie Masoom. The old Golmal is one of my Fav movies...I like it more for Utpal Dutt. Dina Pathak climbing through the kitchen window is one of the most hilarious scenes. 😆@Rekha and Chithra...Yesterday while returning from work, a lady was sitting next to me on the bus.She was carrying a single stick of red rose in her hand. That reminded me of our discussion regarding another single red rose and without even realizing what I was doing, apparently started studying the red rose...actually the stalk of the red rose to see whether it has thorns or not. After some time I realized what I was doing and when I looked sheepishly at the lady, I got a glare in return.😳

I'd love to discuss some of the old hindi serials like Farmaan, Trishna etc if anyone's interested!
Tina I don't remember Farmaan but I do remember Trishna...wasn't that based on Pride and Prejudice?

Yes Trishna was based on P&P. it was very well executed I felt. I wish it was available to see somewhere, either on internet or on DVD. There were 4 sisters instead of 5, Rupa, Rekha, Ruhi and Rita. Tarun Dhanrajgir played Darcy's equivalent. It was so popular at the time!Farmaan was a very short series, just 14 episodes in fact (all episodes are available on youtube actually). The male lead was Kanwaljeet. In a very tangential way he reminded me of Shlok. He was a brooding hero, somewhat dark, with a difficult family history. She was a sweet middle class girl and he was a Nawab. The series was perfectly drool-worthy at the time 😃. It was based on a book Alampanah. If you have time and feel like it, it might be worth a watch.
