CHAPTER 4:
Inside sitting in the sofa with Sakshi was his mother. He took a deep breath and slowly released it. Sakshi and his mother got up from the sofa. Sakshi had a weird look in her face while her mother was shaking with silent laughter. What the!!! Behind him Sameer made a chocking noise. He just couldn't understand what his mother is doing here.
Sakshi looked at Mrs. Deshpande apologetically.
Sakshi: Sorry Ma'am. Arjun bilkul bhi aisa nehi hai. Pata nehi aaj kya ho gya.
She again looked back at Arjun who was looking at Mrs. Deshpande.
Sakshi: Arjun.. Kya hua?
Arjun didn't turn to her nor did he answer her. He walked straight to Mrs. Deshpande and asked in a strained voice.
Arjun: Mom aap yaha kya kar rahe hai?
Mom!!!!!! Did he just addressed her as Mom!! She is Mrs. Rawte!! Arjun's mother!!! Shock after shock. Sakshi opened her mouth to say something but no words came out. And she confessed her love in front of her. She closed her eyes tightly. She was chanting to her God to make her faint. Half a hour will do. But God was nowhere near mercy.
Arjun again asked same question to his mother. She had a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. Not good.
Mrs. Rawte: Aur kya? Apni honewali daughter in law se milne ayi thi!!
Arjun: Hein? (looking at Sakshi).. No offence I really love you and want to marry you but mom!! Shadi pe itni jaldi kiyu hai? Uparse Sakhsi ki marji bhi mujhe nehi pata.
Mrs. Rawte twisted Arjun's ear.
Arjun: Aww aww mom. It hurts.
Mrs. Rawte: Pehle to main already Sakshi se bat kar chuki hoom. She loves you. And second aabhi shadi nehi karega to kya buddha hoke kareka?
Arjun looked at Sakshi with amusement. His heart was hammering in his chest.
Arjun: Do.. do you really love me?
Sakshi shyly nodded. A happy silly grin stretched in his face.
Sameer entered with a bewildered expression in his face.
Sameer: Ek minute ek minute. Yeh sab kya ho raha hai yaha? Aunty aap yaha kya kar rahe hai?
Mrs. Rawte smiled a naughty smile.
Mrs. Rawte:Kuch nehi. Arjun ke dil ak khabar to mujeh bohot pehle hi ho gya tha. Aaj bas mujhe Sakshi ki khabar janni thi. Arjun ke papa aa rahe hai. Mujeh koi der nehi karni. Mujeh jalde se jald in baccho ki shadi karwani hai.
All were very happy. They talked with Mr. and Mrs. Anand in phone. They couldn't come for security reason but they send their blessings for the couple.
One week later-
Arjun sat in his cabin and grumbled under his breath. It's been only three days since he got married and his leave didn't end but due to some important case he had to end up in the office. He planned a romantic dinner with his lovely wife but all in vein. Just for that kambakht Sameer.
Arjun: Khud to Aisha se apni dil ki bat nehi paya uparse mera dinner plan bhi barbad kar dya.
He checked the clock. Half past four.. Sighed and decided to call Sakshi. It ringed and ringed but she didn't receive. He tried for several times. But again no answer. Just then Liza entered and gave him a file and he got busy with that. Half an hour later he tried again. Still no answer. A shiver ran through his spine. What if she is in danger? No no. That cannot happen. He decided to check himself.
He went to Sameer's office and was about to knock the door. But stopped in midway. Remembering last time he didn't want to get embarrassed again.
So, he went to the garage and went to home with informing anyone. When he reached home he noticed two microbus parking outside the house. He frowned. Sakshi didn't inform him about any guest. Hell she is not even picking up her phone.
The door was slightly open. He opened the door and his worst nightmare welcomed him. Sitting in the sofa was Mahatre. Sikandar's right hand. In the opposite side sitting Sakshi with three guns pointed at her. Her face was pale.
Arjun's blood boiled in anger. They dared to come near Sakshi. His hand went behind to pull out his gun but Mahatre beat him to it.
Mahatre: Arre ACP sahab aye aye. Aphika intejar ho raha tha. Arre koi ja aur ACP sahab ka swagat kar.
A man went to him and tucked out the gun from his back. Arjun couldn't do anything. Because a single mistake and they will kill Sakshi. There were more than ten goons in the house other than Mahatre. He can't win them. But hell will bend loose before he gives up without any fight. His Sakshi is in danger and he will not leave her alone.
Arjun: Kya chahte ho tum?
Mahatre had a revolver in hand. He feigned to inspect it.
Mahatre: Jyada kuch nehi. Bas yeh Sakshi madam ne hamare pujnia Sikandar bhai ke khilaf jo bhi jhota bayan dene ja rahi hai woh na de. Likin madam hai ki jidd pakad ke baithi hai. Mann hi nehi rahe hai.
He looked at her. Her eyes were moving constantly. He realized she was trying to say something. Then he noticed her hands were moving behind her. She was upto something. So, he decided to give her free roo. He decided to drag the attention to him. But before he could do that a man touched Sakshi's cheek from behind. That blew his fuse.
He let out a growl and pounced at the nearest man. Mahatr was waiting for a chance to torture them. Arjun's action opened the door for him. Letting out a growl in anger and punched on his face.
Sakshi shoot up from her place. Her heart started beating faster. Stupid, stupid, stupid man. Who told him to react? She tried to reach Arjun. But before she could move an inch two man captured his hands from both sides. Another man put a knife on her throat.
Arjun became still. He can never put her in danger. Not even in his wildest dreams. Mahatre was enjoying the drama. He again punched Arjun. But he didn't move. Mahatre let out an evil smile. He understood as long he had Sakshi under knife Arjun wouldn't fight back. He put several kicks on his rib.
Sakshi howled. No matter what Arjun kept eye contact with her. Mahatre then took a baseball bat and started heating Arjun. Blood was coming out from several wounds. Sakshi fought hard to go to him but they kept strong hold on her.
Mahatre hit behind his head with all force he had. Pain exploded in his head. He could taste blood in his mouth. He could heart Sakshi screaming. He tried to smile. He tried to reassure her. He will be with her always. Didn't he promise? Just before loosing conscious he heard Sameer's voice. He smiled in mind. So, that was Sakshi doing.
Arjun closed his eyes. Was he dying? May be. But at least Sakshi is alive. She will be able to leave. But he has one single regret. He never told her how much he loved her. She meant the whole world to him. He loved her with the core of his heart. But he couldn't tell her that. A lone tear escaped his eyes. He felt Sakshi's hand touching his forehead. He will never see their children playing in the backyard. They will never celebrate their silver jubilee. He planned so many things with her. He tried to tell a single "I love u" .. His heart formed the words but they never escaped his lips. She will never know...
