Regarding today's DDoS attack and resolution.

Hi All,

First of all our sincere apologies on the inconvenience it caused to our site visitors and members who were not able to access our site for a good 7 hours due to a high level of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. For non-techies in simple terms it means that there are some evil people who tried to send fake data packets to our server from multiple machines (10Gig+) consuming all our server bandwidth that it rendered our servers unreachable for the real site visitors. Since the attack happened at midnight and none in our tech team were available it took longer then usual to resolve this issue and also we were late in updating our members on the status.

However in order to prevent any such future outbreaks we have signed up with CloudFlare which will help us mitigate such attacks in future. And there are some more advantages that it will also prevent threats and also limit abusive Bots and Crawlers saving valuable bandwidth.

We are in the process of migrating our site to take advantage of CDN network hosting and hopefully with the new change our site users will experience better WebSite uptime and performance.
There may be a few teething issues while we are setting up and optimizing our site for the same and we would appreciate your patience in this regard and the inconvenience is regretted.

If you continue to face the same issue please do let us know here.

For users who have not been able to access the site should check their Browsers as it might be that they are failing our Firewall's Browser Integrity Check. Please check if your PC / Mac is having unwanted programs / malwares / adwares or viruses.

Browser Integrity Check is similar to Bad Behavior and looks for common HTTP headers abused most commonly by spammers and denies access to your page. It will also challenge visitors that do not have a user agent or a non standard user agent (also commonly used by abuse bots, crawlers or visitors).

So if you have any Extensions which modifies the content in any way or automate requests then you need to remove that extension / plugin.
