Everyone in this film acted poorly except Preity and Abhishek.
Pace was bad.

Too many gimmicky sequences. We didn't need Sexy Sam or Chandigarh jokes.

Infidelity without any reason does irritate.

SRK is a typical MCP who cannot handle Wife's success. Rani has her own complex at inability to conceive but takes frustration on husband.

I hate loudness in this film. Other films like Silsila were subtle unlike this loud circus.

SRK and Rani also looked older in this film.

KANK had disastrous reception in India. A man shot his wife dead after watching this film. Later he said her behaviour was like Rani's character and he suspected her of infidelity. Many real life cases and controversies came up then. Karan and SRK had to clarify their stance and message of film to national media.

It justifies infidelity, rather glorifies it.

Pointless film.

The acting of the entire star cast was really good. I enjoyed the acting.

The storyline wasn't bad either, but it was highly misinterpreted and the point it was trying to convey was conveyed in a poor manner.

The songs were nice.

Yes they did.
A man shot his wife after watching KANK. Both had gone to watch movie together. During film he felt he could relate Rani to wife. On way back home he killed his wife. He even confessed it!

That was huge controversy and channels covered it 24/7.

Many others started ditching partners.

SRK and Karan had to appear on NDTV and Aaj Tak to clarify the film and their own stance.

Their effigies were being burnt for promoting wrong message.

I dont think it was that bad..the concept was realistic but as KJo is incapable of handling realistic subjects..the movie looked liked its glorifying infidelity..On top of that it was very difficult to accept Shahrukh as a cheater for the common movie going people..as he had an eternal lover boy image prior to that movie..Or else nastier things happen in real life..and infidelity is no big deal now..and the story was based in US..Any other director.like may be an Anurag Basu or R Balki would have done more justice to the same story

The movie does not fail, because it explores a new topic for Hindi cinema, but rather it fails in its screenplay, direction, acting, and overall sense of apathy that culminates in its climax. First of all, it never makes sense why Maya would want to leave Rishi in the marriage in the first place. Rishi is portrayed as a loving husband who cares deeply about Maya, would do anything for her, and is always working hard at trying to make the marriage work. Isnt that what every girl dreams of? As for Rani Mukherjees acting, she does a good job with the bad script that she is presented with. However, her looks in the movie are a big disappointment. She looks like she has aged ten years in the movie. Was it the make-up artist?

Then, there is the dashing Dev who has a car accident which causes him to give up his career as a soccer player. He falls in love with Maya from the first time he sees her, so he continually meets her and keeps telling her how unhappy she is in her marriage, which subsequently makes Maya fall in love with him. This is a huge hole in the script. How does Dev know she is unhappy? A big assumption here! The true underlying issue is in fact that Dev is very insecure about his disability and inability to contribute to his marriage. The anger he feels towards himself after his disability is what makes him put out his anger on his wife and child. Instead of working on his marriage and support his child, he abandons them to fall for Maya. Wouldnt it have been better for Karan Johar to explore Devs feelings as to why he wants to leave his wife? As for Shah Rukh Khans acting, for the first time, Shah Rukh Khans acting does not equal in par to his roles in Swades, Dil To Payal Hai, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and many more. It is easily detected that this is not the role for Shah Rukh Khan. He seemed detached from the role and lacks soul in his character.

Rhea is a career woman who is driven in her career. It is not that she does not care for her husband and child, but is forced to move forward in her career to provide for her family. She is supposed to be seen as a villain, because she is career-driven. But, whats wrong with that when your spouse is unable to work? The character of Rhea really tries hard to make the marriage work (which is clearly seen in the scene where she is given a project in another place and refuses it to be with her family), but with so much hatred brought in by Dev, what could she do? As for Preity Zintas acting, she was able to portray Rhea well and without any flaws, however the role was small and does not provide Preity Zinta with great scope for the character. Preity Zinta is also looking extremely oldwhats up with this make-up artist?
