Hello guys…
Here is a serious post by Sapna and Naina… well Naina is waise bhi pretty serious…(😡😡 By Naina 😆) but as u all know Sapna is very sweet… lol (Yeah right! 😆 By Naina)
Anyway now back to the topic…we would like to tell u all that me and Naina will be posting information about some psychological problems once or twice a month… so hope u guys like our posts because we will be working very hard on them… the information that we will be gathering will be through google and various websites and we would not be taking any credit for any other person's writing… in some parts of the post we would try to write it in our own words…so it becomes easier for every age group to read it all…
Now our first psychological problem is Alien Hand Syndrome… Alien Hand Syndrome is very rare…but since it is a very unbelievable illness…and that most ppl don't know about it… we will give u all some info about it…
Alien hand syndrome (anarchic hand or Dr. Strangelove syndrome) is an unusual neurological disorder, a form of apraxia in which one of the sufferer's hands seems to take on a mind of its own. (Apraxia: In general, the diagnostic term "apraxia" can be used to classify the inability of a person to perform voluntary and skillful movements of one or more body parts, even though thno evidence of underlying muscular paralysis, incoordination, or sensory deprivation.)
An alien hand sufferer can feel normal sensation in the hand, but believes that the hand, while still being a part of their body, behaves in a manner that is totally distinct from him- or herself. They feel that they have no control over the movements of the alien hand, but that, instead, the hand has the capability of acting independent of their conscious voluntary control. Alien hands can perform complex acts such as undoing buttons or removing clothing. Sometimes the sufferer will not be aware of what the alien hand is doing until it is brought to his or her attention. There is a clear distinction between the behaviors of the two hands in which the affected hand is viewed as "wayward" and sometimes "disobedient" and generally out of the realm of their own voluntary control, while the unaffected hand is under normal volitional control.
Treatment
Although there is no known formal (primary) treatment for Alien Hand Syndrome at this time, the symptoms can be reduced by keeping the alien hand occupied and involved in a task, for example by giving it an object to hold.
I (Sapna) studied this in class…and we were shown a movie…it was really scary how this women diagnosed with Alien Hand Syndrome was choking herself with her Alien hand at night…she was about to die… or there was another case where the person was about to choke her own cat… the most difficult thing about this is that the person would almost be worried about the Alien hand…its like living with ur enemy…and not being able to do anything about it…because the enemy is a part of urself…
Well guys this was some information about Alien Hand Syndrome...We hope that it was useful…and would appreciate if u guys would comment on what we could change for our other posts regarding other mental illnesses…
Regards,
The two very sweet ppl…
