To celebrate Rakshabandhan you don't have to be a Hindu!

Rakshabandhan, a bond between a brother and sister is a festival celebrated by all the ethnic groups.

Rakshabandhan which is known as the bond of protection by a brother for his sister is an auspicious occasion.

As this festival celebrates the beautiful relationship of brother and sister, it also has a beautiful meaning behind it - a promise that a brother gives to his loving sister that he will be there with her in come what may be the situation, and he will always protect her.

Originally it was the festival celebrated by the Hindus, Jain and Sikhs only. But gone are the days when only Hindus celebrated this festival. Along with Hindus the other religion people also celebrate this festival.

On the same we have some Muslim television celebs who shared with TellyBuzz on how they celebrate Rakshabandhan and why is it their favorite festival.

Here is what they said...

Faisal Khan seen playing the role of Maharana Pratap in the show Bharat Ka Veer Putra Maharana Pratap on Sony TV.

"I have three sisters and I always celebrate Rakshabandhan with them, this time I am busy shooting but I will still try my best to be with them. Every year I give them small gifts but this time their expectations are higher than before, so I am ready to empty my pockets, it is a proud feeling to spend money on my sisters."

Akhlaque Khan last seen in Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha Season 2 on Colors.

"Yes though being a Muslim I celebrate all the festivals. I belong from Dhanbad and the place where I used to stay had mostly Hindus, so that is how we celebrate all the festivals. I have a real sister who ties me Rakhi every year, but from the time that I have shifted to Mumbai, she sends me a rakhi here and I tie it to my wrist and give her gifts when I visit our home. I have a Rakhi sister in Mumbai too. Without fail she comes on Rakhshabandhan and ties me a Rakhi. This festival should be celebrated all over I feel, as it celebrates the bond between the most beautiful relationship between brother and sister."

Sana Amin Sheikh seen playing the role of Lajjo in the show Gustakh Dil on Life OK.

"We are 3 sisters and we have no brothers hence we tie Rakhi to each other and give gifts to each other. As a child we did not celebrate this festival as we were Muslims and we stayed in a Muslim area too where we did not see this festival celebrated. But when we grew and came to know about this festival and the purpose behind it, we too started celebrating it. My mother finds the festival one of the best festival celebrated in India and we sisters too think the same. I wish all the brothers and sisters a very Happy Rakshabandhan!"

TellyBuzz wishes its viewers a very Happy Rakshabandhan!

Krishma Solanki.

Rakshabandhan is a NON-RELIGIOUS holiday!! there are no religious rituals associated with it. Even Queen Karnavati sent a rakhi to Emperor Humayun!!! And when she needed help in defeating an invader, he sent an army so that she could defend her kingdom

its a nice festival but why to celebrate these wonderful relations just for a day? that's why I believe that no father's mother's or any specific day. we should ensure our bros n sis that we love them n we care for them everyday.

I am Muslim but let's be honest, i dont celebrate this festival or any mother or father's day. I believe in loving them equally 365 days a year than just an special day.

Sonia Gandhi will tie 'Rakhi' on Nawaz Sharif's hand...

Rakhi's true meaning is that sister prays for Brothers good Health & Happiness and
it is Brother's duty to protect and look after sisters well being.

Will Nawaz Sharif stop his army and ISI from attacking his Sisters land????
