Sachin Tendulkar is no less than a God to the people of India. All of us who were fearing about the day when Sachin will retire has finally come up and the legendary cricketer has played his last match today. Here are quotes from some actors of our television industry as to what they feel about cricket and how will cricket be without Sachin. Here is what they have to say-
Siddharth Arora, last seen as Beera in Colors TV's Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha season 2"I follow everything about cricket. Today I specially
got up early to watch Sachin play his last match. I play cricket a lot and
Sachin was and is still my idol. Unfortunately, I did not have the privilege
to meet the legend but I will one day surely.
According to me, God's do not
retire. He maybe retiring from the game but will never retire from the minds
and hearts of the people. For me, cricket is Sachin Tendulkar. He is a
cricketer that has played for 24 long years consistently and to maintain this
kind of passion throughout these years is amazing.
Staring at 16 years and retiring at 40 years is an amazing achievement. I do not think anyone can ever match up with Sachin's dedication and his potentials but I think Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma can come closer to him according to how they are playing. I couldn't make up to watch the match at Wankhede stadium as I was unwell, so watched the match on television."
"I watch a lot of cricket. It is a proud moment for
both himself and the country. All over the world people watch him play and
respect him. I think Sachin should have played for some more time but getting retired
is his own decision.
Yes, i do have met Sachin in couple of functions but not
properly. We have only exchanged smiles. Today there are many cricketers but
the kind of impact that he has given to people and especially kids is
remarkable.
Sachin Tendulkar is my idol. Bachpan mein me zidd pakadkar baith gaya tha kimujhe bhi Shivaji Park mei cricket khelna hai jaha Sachin practice karte the. Every morning I used to go and practice at the Shivaji Park at 6 in the morning. I congratulate him on his phenomenal success. I do not think anyone can match up to Sachin. He is loved by everyone and I doubt anyone can break his 200 test match's record. Not Sachin but close to him is Virat Kohli that's what I feel. I watched the match on TV because unfortunately I did not get the time to go to the stadium and enjoy the match."
"I watch the match as often as cricket is played. I do
not have anything to talk about Sachin. Kuch
logo ke bare me job hi bolo wok am hi hota he. Unke liye kuch bolke fayda nahi
he. You need that much of caliber and potential to become Sachin Tendulkar.
Sadly, I have never met Sachin personally. Only thing I regret of is that in
today's match he should have played the ball straight and should not have cut
the ball. There can be no comparison and should not be made any comparison
between Sachin and other players. There is not other Sunil Gavaskar or Kapil
Dev.
Cricketers can come close to them but cannot be like them. Every cricketer has its own entity. Sachin Tendulkar is not born every day. There are so many things required to form one Sachin Tendulkar. His own discipline is needed. I did not get the time to go to the stadium so watched the match on television."
"I have seen almost all the matches. I have grown
watching Sachin play. In 1983-1984 I started watching cricket and in the year
1989 I started playing. It was around this time only when Sachin came in. You need
passion for cricket to become like him. He is the God of cricket.
Today, when I saw him entering for batting I did not feel like he is going to retire and this was his last match. Just by watching him play on television I got goosebumps. I cannot imagine our Indian Cricket team without him. Nobody else can fill the gap and we will definitely miss him.
There is an incident I would like to share - My
sister was due and she started getting her labor pain. India was playing
opposite Australia then and Sachin was batting like anything. He had hit double
century and when the match got over I took my sister to the hospital (laughs). Just
after half an hour my niece was born.
No one can replace Sachin. But I would say Virat Kohli is playing good. I think the Indian One Day match team is the best in the last 20-30 years. The team is just perfect but only needs two or three good bowlers. All of them are young, energetic and are playing well. I feel wonderful but at the same time sad too. Unfortunately, I was busy with the press releases so could not watch the match at the stadium."
