Anisha Kapur's Bangkok trip..

Anisha Kapur talks about her encounter with the tigers in Bangkok and her amazing vacation..

I had been working for too long and really felt the need for a break. So I took off for 12 days at a stretch and went to Bangkok. I remember I used to go there every year during my summer break. But this time I went after a gap of nearly two years. I have my family there as my mother's from Bangkok. So my Nani, Maasi, Mama are all there. I spent a week with the entire family first and then enjoyed the remaining days with my friends who had come over. That's why I think it was the best and the most perfect holiday. It had a mixture of everything.

One of the days we went out of Bangkok to the Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi. It's a district 3 hours away from Bangkok and the coolest place I've been to so far. It's not a very commercial place so not many tourists know of it. I would suggest everyone to go there at least once. In the temple there are monks who raise tigers since they are born. So the tigers are the monks pets and you can go and play with them. You can take them for a walk and even kiss them.

People were making them sit on their laps and getting pictures clicked. I got goose bumps when the tiger opened his mouth to yawn. It was quite an experience although very crazy. The best part is that they make you sign a bond at the entry saying that 'The temple is not responsible for whatever happens. You must understand that after all they are wild animals and can attack at any point of time. You can go ahead at your own risk!' But it was still a risk worth taking.

The rest of the days I spent shopping in various malls like MBK and Platinum. I bought loads of clothes, bags and sandals. I used to sleep till late, wake up and eat a heavy lunch, almost double of what I normally have. Then I would walk around in the malls burning all the excess fat. I also bought a lot of knick knacks for my future house which I'm soon planning to buy. I ended up picking a lot of pink coloured stuff which will make my house a pink house. I now find it very funny.

While returning back we were the last ones on the flight. I guess we just didn't want to come back. Till the last minute we kept shopping at the duty free for perfumes and chocolates. An announcement had to be made and one of the airline staff came and told us "run madam, run flight waiting." We literally ran with our luggage to make sure we were not left out. The air hostess kept giving us dirty looks throughout the flight.
