Story so far -

The story of Tumhari Paakhi is based on the Bengali novel Naba Bindhan written by popular writer Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.

Anshuman Jindal (Iqbal Khan) is a businessman settled in Shimla who has had a child marriage at the age of 11 to a girl Paakhi (Shraddha Arya) who is just 6 years old. After the marriage which happens in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, Anshuman as is the tradition leaves his wife behind to come back for her later. However, due to family differences he never comes back and gets married to another girl with whom he has a son Ayan who is 7 years old now. After his second wife dies he is almost getting married to a third girl when the media questions him about his first marriage.

Wanting to salvage his reputation Anshuman announces to the media that he will get his first wife back but in reality goes back with divorce papers to end the marriage. Upon reaching there he sees that Paakhi despite her family's unhappiness is eagerly awaiting his arrival. Trapped in circumstances beyond his control, Anshuman has to complete the marriage formalities and get Paakhi to Shimla much against the wishes of his sister Lavanya (Rukhsar Rehman) and the father of his girlfriend Tanya.

Anshuman assures Tanya that he will make sure that Paakhi will go back after admitting her defeat but even though the entire household staff too which goes against her, Paakhi tries to come out as a winner. She finds support in Girish (Sachin Shroff) who is Lavanya's husband.

What works -

The show has been shot at various outdoor locations like Shimla, Panchgani, Satara, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan and is just not limited to indoor havelis. The producers have left no stone unturned and have grand production values in place so we see the outdoor locales of Shimla, Panchgani, etc., blending beautifully with the story. At the same time the producers Shashi & Sumeet Mittal have given all attention to detail in the story which is adapted from the popular writer Sarat Chandra Chhatopadhyay's novel Nab Bidhan.

The main leads - Iqbal & Shraddha are good looking and as a Jodi they are sure to become a hit. Shraddha's entry song Dhola Maru' in the first episode was beautifully shot and the music, lyrics, dancing everything was perfect. There are lovely and suggestive, hilarious moments too between the couple which touch your heart right from the first episode itself but they never look clichd.

Also noticeable is the fact that instead of using some soulful Bollywood number the makers have recorded a special song Bairi Piya' sung by the melodious singer Sunidhi Chauhan which runs through the show during special moments.

What doesn't work -

The household staff does get to you sometimes with their over-acting and trying to create humor. The main housekeeper Maahji who has been taking care of the entire house and of Anshuman and his son gives a supportive look when she first meets Paakhi but later on turns negative and is shown to be against her entry.

There is no mention of Anshuman's second wife who is supposed to be dead and it does surprise you that he is so easily getting impressed by Paakhi. Also in the promos and as per the title it is a show where Paakhi is supposed to write letters to Anshuman but this has never been shown in the show so far!

Our take -

Watch it for the good looking main leads - the dashing Iqbal Khan and the pretty Shraddha Arya. They share a lovely chemistry and the Jodi is sure going to be a big hit in times to come! The story setting and use of outdoors makes it look exciting unlike other serials which shoot in dull and dreary sets.

A refreshing approach to story telling the show is very well conceptualized. Watch it, you must!

you also forget the main reason this show works is that Pakhi is shown to be really smart, intelligent, and insightful unlike in other shows her goodness is also very calculative too.
