'I have maintained the freshness in me' - Akshay Sethi

Akshay Sethi fondly known as Deepak in Star Plus and Ravi Ojha Productions' Sasural Genda Phool believes in hard work and destiny and takes life with a positive approach. Born in a filmy background, the actor has all the patience and perseverance needed to sail through in this industry.

Here is Akshay as he shares his journey in this small screen industry exclusively with Tellybuzz...

How did acting happen to you?           
I think it was destiny. I started assisting Pooja Bhatt as a production designer just to keep myself busy during my vacations, and it was there that I was noticed for an ad for Limca and then I got my first break in Saath Phere. With this my journey into the small screen started off.


Did you get your family's consent easily when you said you wanted to be an actor?
                                             
My mom wanted me to study further as I was a bright student. However when I got my first offer, I told them that I wanted to give it a try. Luckily, after my first break I got lots of ads and TV offers, so I am still sustaining.

Talk us through your double role in Sasural Genda Phool?                            

It's the best role an actor can get as I am playing not 2 but 4 characters. Firstly I played  the 30 yrs old rapist, then the guy with a disturbed past whose mother doesn't accept him because he is the product of a rape. With the same face I was shown as the rapist who is 55 yrs old with a family. And now I play the boy who is accepted by the family and is
going to fall in love with Suhana's sister, which makes my character more comic and romantic as well.  I am glad that people have accepted me in all characters.
                                     
How much do you relate to your character of Deepak in Sasural Genda Phool?

Not at all, I don't come from such a background and I am not dirty like my on screen  father and not that innocent as Deepak. I am very mysterious. I am hard working, but at the same time, I want to have fun. I love adventure, but I am also scared of certain things.

Don't you think you have not been as famous as you wanted to be in all these years?                                                  I
feel its a sin to be over exposed and popular in TV as nobody wants to repeat you. I have done a lot of work, but still maintain that freshness in me, and this is what an actor wants. And that is not all, people still want to cast me as a lead.


You are from a filmi background... What are the films your father has made?
He has made lots of films like Samjautaa, the old Jai Santoshi Maa etc. Tell us something about your nature….I am a honest person, disciplined and very ambitious, I am funny and entertaining, and at the same time I am very responsible and hard working.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
I never plan, just work hard and let's see where destiny takes me.

Tell us something about your best friend and about your friendship?

I have no best friends. I never let anybody get close to me. I guess the only person who is closest to me is the person I date.

Who is your favorite actor and why?

Salman Khan. We can never have another Salman, he is the only one piece in this universe.Your best time pass.Watching movies and reading books.
