It's not the medium but the quality of the content that matters

After Saas Bina Saasural ended you have gotten an opportunity to take a break, how has it been after having worked nonstop for so long?

Honestly I wasn't looking forward to that break but I guess health reasons and circumstances lead to it.  However, I have had enough of that break now and I am itching to get back to work.

There were some health issues that had cropped up. Is everything alright now?

Everything is perfect, touchwood.   

There were rumors circulating about you doing Saas Bina Saasural Season 2.  Then we heard rumors that you were doing another Optymistix show.  Do you want to clear the air…

I wish Saas Bina Saasural Season two was being made but it's not happening.  Yes, I was approached for an Optymistix's show on Sony but due to some reasons the show didn't work out.

We have also heard rumors about films.  Are you looking towards Bollywood?

I think everybody is looking towards Bollywood and would like to do films but it's not that I am rushing towards it.  If I get a good script, I would love to take up a film.  Having said that, I also believe that it's not the medium but the quality of the content that matters.  TV or films - I am looking to do good work.

What kind of role are you looking to play next after already having played the very popular Toasty?

When I took up Toasty, I didn't know if the character would click or not with the audiences.  Since our television shows mainly have bahus, I wouldn't mind playing a bahu but there should be more to it.  I don't want to just play a goody two shoes who is like a Mother Teressa.  There should be more layers to the character.  Thankfully, there has been a change happening in our industry and we are seeing better scripts.

You recently were seen on television for a short stint in Welcome – Baazi Mehmaan Navazi ki.  How was that experience?

Welcome was a lot of fun.  Reality shows are a different genre to be a part of but I thoroughly enjoyed being part of Welcome.  It was a testing ground for me as I used to think that I am not cut off for reality.  However, after having done this show I do think that I can participate in reality shows as well.

Where does Aishwarya Sakhuja see herself five years down the line?

I enjoy acting and hence I hope to see myself enjoying my work and being more successful, more loved and more popular.  Honestly though more than ambition and career, what matters most for me is the calmness and happiness in one's mind.

I know there have been a lot of rumors about me circulating recently which say that I have taken up different roles on TV and/or films but I just want to let my viewers know that when I do take up something new, I will come out in the open and officially let you all know.   I miss entertaining you guys and hope to be back soon.
