Telly town actor Nandish Sandhu, who is closely associated with Television believes that education is very necessary as it helps you to evolve into a better personality...

Young, handsome and talented, Telly town actor Nandish Sandhu rose to fame with his chocolate boy avatar 'Veer' of Colors popular show 'Uttaran'. Nandish who has been associated with social cause like anti-drug campaign, also believes that education is not just preparation for life, rather education itself is a life.

TellyBuzz got in touch with the good-looking actor to unveil more facts about him, besides his much appreciated acting skills...

Recently you attended one of the largest youth conferences on International Youth Day. Accordingly, how important is education in today's world?

I think education is very important and necessary in today's world. Basically, there are two things, one is being literate and the other is being educated. A literate is someone who is simply capable enough to read and write. While on the other hand, education is not only theoretical knowledge, it teaches and helps you to evolve into a better person practically. Moreover, education makes you brood over things rationally with a wide perspective; therefore it is very important for every individual in the society.

You are involved in an anti-drug campaign as well. What motivated you towards this social cause?

Well, as this opportunity came my way all of a sudden, it was more of a spontaneous decision. However, there is a personal incidence attached to it. There was a very close childhood friend of mine, whom I lost touch when I shifted to Mumbai. Soon after, I came to know that he had badly fallen prey to drug addiction. Consequently, his entire family went through a lot of chaos and sufferings. Even after trying their best with everything possible, they lost their son due to an overdose of drugs. I came to know this at a very late stage, when I couldn't provide a helping hand. As a result, I took a step forward with this anti-drug campaign in order to bring about a change in the society.

Do you think it's the prevailing modern trend or the peer pressure that indulges the youth in unwanted habits?

I guess most of us might have experienced peer pressure at some point of our life. Especially, it's very common at a teenage phase, when the students are pressurized tremendously to follow the crowd. Yet, I feel it's an individual's choice and it wouldn't be appropriate to hold someone else responsible for your own wrongdoing. But the youngsters don't really realize that by falling prey to drug addiction or something similar they are not only harming themselves but also affecting their family ultimately.

How did you manage this when you were a teenager?

I'm a kind of a person who would try my hands at everything, but not get addicted to it. I believe we have got just one life to enjoy, so we should live it to the fullest, with absolutely no regrets.

Do you have any bad habits that you would like to change?

Nobody is perfect; even I have a couple of habits that I would surely wish to change. Actually I don't drink enough liquid, which is a must for our body. Nevertheless, I'm also thankful to God that I have been gifted with a strong will-power that I haven't been addicted to any awful habits.
