The industry is now business driven: Inder Kumar

Inder Kumar believes that portrayal of roles should have substance and meaning to it which impresses the actor. He is now ready to take up another show on Television which has a concrete subject.

Actor Inder Kumar who was last seen in Fear Files on Zee TV, started his career 17 years back with the film Masoom in which he portrayed the character of Akash. After his debut on silver screen the actor was seen in couple of movies that time winning accolades for his performances. He was seen on television playing the character of Mihir in Balaji Telefilms popular show Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, replacing the good looking actor Amar Upadhyay. This was a brief stint till her was replaced by Ronit Roy.

Inder Kumar is now all set to return to television and movies too and talks to TellyBuzz about his comeback.

You were seen on Television in Fear Files after a gap of 17 years. Where were you all this time?

All this time I was doing movies as I was offered good roles in movies. For me movies were my priority since I did not want to leave acting in movies for television sake. And then I just did an episodic on Fear Files.

What is in your mind after Fear Files?

I never plan anything in my life, after the accident that took place. I am still looking out for very good roles, which are meaningful and which have substance in whatever I do. I have few movies lined up so I don't want to lose on a movie for television sake, unless there's something concrete on Television.

What made you choose an episodic on Fear Files

The reason I took up Fear Files was because it was the main lead in the show. To project the main lead in the show the production people required an experienced actor but that doesn't mean I have shifted to episodics on Television. I have movies in the pipeline.

You spoke about the accident that occurred while you were shooting for Kyunki What exactly had happened then?

I was shooting for a movie named Maseeha with two chopper planes at a height of 70 feet and suddenly I fell down from the chopper and broke my legs and ribs. I was almost dead and at that time my movies were shelved because I was injured. That was the biggest set back of my career. The pain recurred when I was about to shoot for Mihir's role. At that time, I was actually working out and suddenly I encountered excruciating pain on my back, for which I was advised  bed rest. I couldn't shoot further and curse myself for the same.

Ronit Bose Roy became very popular as Mihir in Kyunki Do you feel that if you had been in place of Ronit things would have been different in your life too?

No, I don't think so. I have done my share of movies with many prominent actors. I have worked with Salman Khan as well as with Madhuri Dixit Nene in Gajagamini. So I don't feel things would have been better but yes I get  annoyed at times when I think about the pain which I had to go through when I was offered to play the character of Mihir and which I failed to portray further.

What are your views on the young breed of actors?

I feel all these new actors are all ambitious but the problem these days is not of actors but the industry which seeks business. Industry people are happy with few episodes which fit in their budget.  It was more like a profit seeking business, during my time. I remember when I had taken up the role of the second Mihir I was asked by people from the movie industry as to what made me take up the popular show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi? I told them that Kyunki was larger and bigger than movies and I am yet to find a show like this on Indian television.

What are you doing these days?

I am focusing on my body and working out to maintain my fitness levels. On the career front, I am not taking up any roles to play on screen as of now.

Do you think there is Godfather in the industry?

Yes I think so and for me it is Salman Khan! I would like to thank Salman Khan from the bottom of my heart. People say they haven't seen God but I have seen God and for me it is Salman Bhai who has helped me emotionally. He was there when I lost my parents and when I had nothing in this industry. During my bad times the only person I had was Salman Bhai who stood by me and helped me progress in my profession.

Now, I have my daughter Svanaa who is my inspiration and I believe she is my mothers reincarnation. I feel alive after her birth and I feel happy that Salman Bhai blessed my daughter who is now eight months old.

Inder we wish you a successful life ahead and we hope to see you soon on television!!
