After your show Phir Subah Hogi, you've been missing from the daily soaps, what has been keeping you so busy?
After Phir Subah Hogi, I have been busy reinventing myself, finding good work, meeting people and trying to figure out what I actually wish to do further. As a versatile actor, I don't want to stay in a comfort zone and do the same sort of thing over and over again.
For an actor it's very important to reinvent yourself so that you grow in your life and your profession.
As of now, I'm trying to learn new things, read a little bit more, trying to know what's going around me by keeping my eyes open, indulging myself in Yoga, Martial arts and Dance.
After winning accolades for your past many shows, are you now planning to try your hand at Bollwood?
I wouldn't categorize it, as these things are very objective and it would be quite amateurish to say that I would only do a particular kind of show, because you never know what works out. However, if I was asked this question 5 years back, I would have certainly said that I'm looking forward to films only. But now time has changed and television has become quite huge. Therefore, irrespective of the medium, I will never quit television and I'll always do justice to whatever role I pick up.
Since the reality shows are trending on Indian television, would you like to be a part of it?
I would love to be a part of reality shows. In fact, I feel reality show is the best medium to connect to the audience. Unlike daily soaps, you have to just be yourself in a reality show. If given an opportunity, I'm sure my fans would love to see the real me and I'm confident that I can connect very well with my fans.
Having worked in seven fictional shows, which character has been closest to your heart? My character 'Veer' in Uttaran will always remain close to my heart. I have lived this character for the longest period of time. Even though I did not share any similarities with Veer, I loved playing the character. As I'm an actor, I had to put in some of my personal traits to develop the nature of the character. So, Uttaran is one show that has given me a lot after which people started loving me as a person.
If you could, what change would you bring in the present television industry?
If I could even modify it a bit, I would make it more technically sound and streamlined. The way Hollywood works is very inspiring, while here in India, our industry still lacks professionalism. Most of the times, decisions are changed at the last moment and there is no exclusivity consequently.
Which is the one role on your wishlist?
Since I'm fascinated by a lot of sci-fiction movies, I would love to play a super hero character like superman, batman, iron man, or Indian super hero like Krish. Personally, I find the whole aura of super heroic role very intriguing and exciting.
Is there a dream you wish to fulfill?
Since I'm a big foodie, I've always had a plan to open up my own restaurant. So, one of my great dreams is to run a huge restaurant that will serve you with all kinds of International cuisines all under one roof and people don't have to run to different places.
