LEAD INDIA ABOUT

Lead India is an initiative by The Times of India to seek out the next generation of leaders for the nation. Times of India began this initiative on 14th August 2007, when India was to celebrate it^/s 60th year of Independence.

The political scenario in the country today is such that the youth and the best of the people want to stay away from politics. The country needs a good leader and this is precisely what the show Lead India aims to do. Through various filteration processes conducted by TOI, from August to November, across the country, 8 candidates got chosen from each state. These 8 contestants will compete through the television series of 10 episodes and the best of the 8 will be chosen as the leader by the janta.

The contestants will go through grueling sessions where they will be tested in terms of their vision towards the country, their oratory skills, ideas, implementation skills and their passion to work for India^/s better. Hosted by Anupam Kher, the contestants are taken to task by three jury members, which comprises of Javed Akhtar, Kiran Bedi and Vikas Singh. Each episode will also feature special guests who are well known personalities from various fields. The show has had guests like Kumar Mangalam Birla, Laloo Prasad Yadav, Akshay Kumar and Rakesh Mehra.

The voting begins from 29th December where the viewers will start voting for their favourite contestant.
