Kashi
is set in a remote village in Bihar called Dholkipur, which is
strongly caste divided where caste hierarchies are strictly maintained.
It is the story of a seven year old girl called Kashi, who dreams
of learning and of getting herself educated. However every small step
that Kashi & her parents take towards achieving their daughters
dream is met with stiff resistance from the upper caste sections &
the powerful elites of the village, who leave no stone unturned to
ensure
that Kashi does not do anything to upset the balance of power and the
division of society that has been prevalent for centuries. The issue
of right to education will find reference in Kashi's struggle. Jannat
Zubair Rahmani will be seen essaying the title role of Kashi,
while popular actor Sai Deodhar Singh
will be making a comeback on television through this show.
